Well, I've wondered about that. We seem to be doing what my 7th grade
geography teacher assured us are hallmarks of 3rd world countries: no
manufacturing, selling off raw resources to repurchase from other
countries after they are "value-added", poor social safety net, enormous
disparity between the richest and poorest citizens.
